Obituary of CARLOTTA MARLENE RIDGEWAY
Carla Marlene Ridgeway, “Chickadee” as she was known to her friends, battled bravely until the end with her longtime partner Jim Payette by her side. After a long fight with cancer, Carla passed away on December 2, 2019 in Winnipeg Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her mother Anna Sutherland; her father Allen Sutherland and biological father Dan Ridgeway. She will be lovingly remembered by Jim; her children, Erica Sherk(Wayne), Jennifer Thompson(Rene) and Dale Thompson(Cheyanne); grandchildren, Roxas, Shaylie, Roland, Blake and Kyle; siblings, Danna, Derrill and Randy; her nieces and nephews, family members and friends, especially Jan Slasor, Mary-Lou, Helga and of course her beloved cat, Babies.
Carla was born on September 18th 1965 in Calgary Alberta and was raised in Thompson Manitoba by her grandmother Mary-Lou Helgesen. She was a strong willed free spirit, who was always optimistic, always laughing and got along with everyone. Carla loved music, dancing, and making everyone around her smile. She was also an avid herbalist who was known for her weapons-grade bannock, cowboy boots and positive outlook. Chickadee will be forever missed by every person fortunate enough to have met her.
“Swept off in the night. She’s an angel now, like the free spirit she always was.”
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
