Born in Serra de Santo Antonio Portugal on January 31, 1935, Gloria immigrated to Canada in 1965 with her husband Arnaldo, bringing their family in search of a better life. Mom had an inherent and passionate aptitude for children and left an everlasting and loving impression on many children in the Portuguese Community and in her grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, who will forever in life remember her special soup. Moms entire working life was spent in the garment industry from Victoria Leather, to Sterling Stahl, and Rice Sportswear, she ended her career sewing the demo samples for London Fog. Mom had an honestly green thumb, and could grow almost any plant, flower, or vegetable. Her beautiful rose bush will be a treasured heirloom that we hope to nurture for many years. Beyond her gardening she was also known in the community for her special Portuguese Cheese, filling many, daily and weekly standing orders for numerous clients in the Portuguese community.
Throughout her life in Canada she was a devoted volunteer at the Portuguese association of Manitoba, she along with our dad were founding members, and for many years she was a constant face helping in the kitchen for Bingo Night, a passion that she treasured into her 80s when she finally worked her last bingo.
