Obituary of JOSEPH KASPER
JOSEPH KASPER
January 1, 1932 - December 4, 2019
Joseph passed away suddenly at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 87, a month shy of his birthday, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Kasper, his children Dan (Lynda) and Cyndi (Bruce) and grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew. Additionally his step-granddaughter, Kristin and step-great-grandson Brayden.
He was predeceased by his mother Ewa Kasperowski and his in-laws, Daniel and Anne Yurchak, his brother Stan Kasperski and his sister Helen Logan.
Joseph graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy with honours at the University of Manitoba in 1955 and continued on to be a practicing pharmacist for 60 years. He worked very hard to rise in his profession and was very proud of his job. Hard work and dedication to his career came as a second nature to him which was present throughout all aspects of his life
He loved to spend the summers at his cabin in Victoria Beach, with his wife, children and later on grandchildren. While at the beach he enjoyed fishing along with his son and that passion was passed onto his grandson, Matthew. Joseph and his wife loved to travel together in their early years of marriage and throughout his wife’s retirement, as Joe retired long after his wife did. His life revolved around his two grandchildren which included hockey, dance, football and any school event. He was very proud to attend both of their high school graduations as they both graduated with honours.
Another one of his many passions was horses. He was very involved with the horse community and owned show and race horses throughout his life. His passion was passed onto his daughter, which she incorporated into her career choice.
He was additionally, an avid sports fan and was elated to see the Winnipeg Blue Bombers win a Grey cup after 29 years. Joseph and his wife had season tickets for the bombers for 30 plus years.
He will be greatly missed by his entire family and anybody that he was able to help throughout his life. A celebration of life will be held at the Assiniboia Downs on January 11 at 1:00 p.m. in the Terrace Dining Room.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Joe’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
