MARIA DA CONCEIÇÃO MONIZ
Peacefully, with all her family by her side, Maria da Conceição passed away on December 13, 2019 at the age of 83 years.
She was born on December 8,1936 in Ribeirinha, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal. She immigrated to Canada on March 1968. Lived in Toronto with her family for 4.5 years and then moved to Winnipeg in 1972.
Maria da Conceição was predeceased by her husband Herminio, her granddaughter Kristen Moniz and parents, Augusto Moniz de Medeiros and Maria da Conceição Almeida, her siblings, brother Deodate, Jose, Oscar and Antonio, her sisters Maria de Lourdes, Eduarda, Margarida, Fernanda and twin sister Violante.
She leaves to mourn, her two children, Carlos (Helen) Moniz and Maria Eduarda Moniz and two granddaughters Brittany and Lindsey, as well as many nieces and nephews, and friends.
Mom was a devoted wife and a stay at home mom. Our mom enjoyed spending time with her family and baking with her twin sister Violante. In her early years she also enjoyed babysitting children of family friends.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Andre Lico officiating. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Adriano Medeiros, Adilson Medeiros, Alfredo Aguiar, Timothy Aguiar, Zacharay Aguiar, and Joe Lopes.
