Obituary of DONALD BRUCE SINCLAIR
DONALD BRUCE SINCLAIR
December 21, 1926 – December 22, 2019
Peacefully, with his family by his side, Bruce passed away at the age of 93 years. Predeceased in 2015 by Vivian, his loving wife of 63 years, he leaves to celebrate his memory four children Lorraine (Ron) Dacombe, Carolyn (Michael) Sinclair/Jarvis, Janet (Len) Dacombe, Bill (Doris) Sinclair, seven grandchildren Jeremy (Cathy) Dacombe, Daniel (Sara) Dacombe, Christina (Jerry) Baker, Allan (Allie) Dacombe, Kalyn (Gabe) Wapemoose/Bedard, David (Amanda) Dacombe, Kristian Sinclair, eleven great-grandchildren, sister Joan Crossley (Allan) Yuill, sister-in-law Isabelle Ellerby and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
Bruce was born in Grandview, MB in 1926, youngest boy of seven children. Bruce served in the Navy from 1944-1946. He married Vivian in 1951, and later completed his BSc in Electrical Engineering in 1957. He had a long career with Manitoba Hydro, retiring in 1985 as Division Manager of Production.
Bruce led an active life. He enjoyed playing hockey in his younger years, repairing small motors, wood-working, welding, gardening, listening to music and singing. He was interested in airplanes and flight, computers and technology. He may have been the only 92 year old in his personal care home with an iPhone and an iPad! Bruce enjoyed many summers at the family cottage at Long Pine Lake. He was active in the local church, in recent years attending chapel and singing along with the hymns. Dad could always be depended upon for help or advice, and remained very interested in the lives of his kids and grandkids up until the end of his life. He moved into the Donwood apartments in 2012 to be near to mom, and then into the Personal Care Home himself in 2016. He bore the challenges of Parkinson’s Disease with patience and good humour, always appreciative of the help and care he received. The family is very grateful to the staff at Donwood Manor for their loving and compassionate care.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held on Monday, January 6th at 11:00 am at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 251 Bannerman Ave.
Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to the Donwood Manor Foundation.
