Obituary of LORI DERKSEN
LORI DERKSEN
April 1, 1965 - December 26, 2019
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Lori passed away on December 26 at the young age of 54 years old from Creutzfeldt-Jakobs disease at the Pinawa Hospital.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Peter, and her 3 children Amy (David), Adam (Alisha) and Alison (Jordan). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Dustin, Dylan, Wyatt and Peyton.
Lori was predeceased by her parents Leo & Irene whom she missed greatly.
Childhood sweethearts Peter & Lori married on November 10th 1984, together for 35 wonderful years. Soon after which they welcomed their daughter Amy, son Adam and youngest daughter Alison. Lori loved her children with all her heart and especially her four grandchildren.
Lori was a successful business owner along with her best friend and husband Peter at Otter Falls Resort for the past 19 years. Spending her time running the restaurant and cleaning cabins while making life long friends along the way.
Lori and Peter enjoyed spending the winters away for the last 10 years at their home in Marco Island Florida where Lori loved spending her time reading by the pool, relaxing on the beach and ocean fishing.
Lori will be remembered for being a loving, caring and true friend to all the people who were in her life, she made many friends along her way and they will miss her greatly..
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Health Science Centre 6th floor as well as the amazing staff at the Pinawa Hospital notably Dr Bruneau.
A celebration of Lori’s life will be held in the spring at otter falls resort. An announcement will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to the research of CJD.
