Obituary of HEDY LAURA RAMSAY

HEDY LAURA RAMSAY February 20, 1937 - January 18, 2020 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hedy Laura Ramsay on January 18, 2020, at the age of 82 years old. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Jim, whom she was married to for over 55 years, as well as her parents Roman and Angela Gura, and brother Roman Gura. Her memory will be forever cherished by her sons James (Kerrie), Chris, daughter Jean (Brian), grandchildren Kyle (Miranda), Rhianne, Kristen, Kim, Erin (Jay), Jennifer (Kevin), Laurel (Brent), and her great grandchildren Sam, Jack, Dylan and Aliyah. She had recently learned of the upcoming birth of another great grandchild and was overjoyed with the news. Hedy had a full life surrounded by loved ones. She regularly shared stories of her days as a legal secretary with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman law offices, and was very proud of the work that she accomplished. She loved to travel and spoke fondly of the many trips that she took across Canada, the United States, and Europe. She and Jim loved going to the cottage together, canoeing, and socializing with their many friends. She loved animals of all types (even a certain little mouse), and had numerous pets over the years. One of her favourite pastimes was watching football and cheering on her CFL team the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and her NFL team the New Orleans Saints. Hedy was a wonderful storyteller and could always get a laugh out of loved ones with the memories she would share. She loved spending time with family and will be dearly missed at future family gatherings. As per her request, cremation and a small family gathering has already taken place. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Jim at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
