Obituary of BETTY LORRAINE LAURENCE
BETTY LORRAINE LAURENCE
APRIL 7, 1931 – JANUARY 30, 2020
BETTY LORRAINE LAURENCE (TINLING) with her daughter Carol and son-in-law Wes by her side, after saying goodbye to daughter Pat and son-in-law Larry shortly before, mom left us to be with our dad.
Mom is survived and deeply missed by her loving family. Daughters Pat (Larry) Peters and Carol (Wes) Spicer. Grandchildren Kevin (Karen) Peters, Heather (Dave) Tanton, Crystal (Emily) Spicer, David Peters, Amanda (Jon) Adaskin and Britainy (Kellen) Jasper. Great-grandchildren Braydon Spicer-Jasper, Emily Tanton, Emma Peters, Renee Tanton, Michael Jasper, Liviah Adaskin, Ryan Peters, Aaron Peters and Zakk Adaskin. Her brother Harold (Mary) Tinling sister-in-law Lina Tinling and sister-in-law Noella Laurence and of course, her precious dogs Maggie and Cocoa.
Mom was predeceased by our dad Ron in 2000. She was also predeceased by sisters Audrey and Bea and brother Rupert and brother-in-law Robert.
Mom was born in Winnipeg and lived here most of her life except for a brief time when she lived in Kenora after marrying our dad Ron to whom she was married to for 49 years prior to his passing in 2000. Mom was a very independent, stubborn woman who continued to live in her own home right up until her health began to decline last year.
Mom was a devoted and loving mom, but she truly shined when she became a grandmother and later a great-grandmother. No words can describe the pride and joy she felt each time one of them called, visited or asked her to attend a special event in their lives.
Our entire family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who did all they could to make mom’s last days with us as comfortable as possible especially those at the Selkirk Regional Health Center – Med2.
A celebration of mom’s life will take place on Saturday February 8, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Private interment will follow at St. John’s Cathedral Crypt.
Should you desire, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to Cancer Care specifically for research into Glioblastoma Cancer.
