Obituary of ANGELA FAYE SAWATZKY
ANGELA FAYE SAWATZKY
March 27, 1985 - February 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela (Angie) Faye Sawatzky on February 23, 2020, at the age of 34.
Angela died peacefully at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba after struggling with progressive health issues for many years. Angela is survived by her loving parents Michael and Denise (Kartzmark) Sawatzky also of Winnipeg, her brothers Timothy and Benjamin Penner, niece Emily Ramsay, uncles, aunt, and cousins.
Born in Hay River, NWT, she spent her childhood years in Winnipeg, MB and Ft. McMurray, AB, finally settling with her family in Winnipeg in her teens. Graduating from Churchill High School, she went on to Red River College, completing a sales and marketing course.
Talented and artistic, Angela started to create jewelry and art pieces of all sorts, but she especially loved the Steampunk style and this is how her business “By Blackbird Designs” was born. She became a sought after artist for her whimsical and unique pieces. With her great smile and cute costumes she became well known in the craft, vendor, and con circles, selling her creations at fairs and festivals in and around Winnipeg, across Canada, and online.
Angela was appreciated by family, friends, and fellow artisans for her sweet, kind, and generous spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Angela also had a love for God and for Truth and could be found at her local Kingdom Hall worshiping with her friends and family. It was her faith that helped her to carry on despite her painful and complicated health issues.
We want to thank all the hospital staff, doctors and nurses at both Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospital that cared for Angela so lovingly. Our special thanks to Dr. Salah Iskander of Lakewood Medical Centre for his love and kindness in caring for Angela through the years, she could not have found a better Doctor.
