Obituary of ROBERT GLESBY
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, Bob passed away at the age of 76.
He will be forever missed by his wife of 56 years, Ann, his children, Deb and Rob (Arlene) and granddaughters Jennifer, Ava and Abby. He is also survived by his brother Brian, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Morris and brothers, Roy and Bill.
Bob was born in Winnipeg on March 12, 1936. He worked as a Driving Instructor and then in an office job at the City of Winnipeg before finding his niche at the Highways Department of the Province of Manitoba, where he worked for 27 years. He loved all the aspects of his role - snowclearing after blizzards, rescuing people on the highways, travelling the winter roads, firefighting up north, summer road repair and all the equipment he learned to operate - the bigger the better! Bob retired in 1993 and began a new chapter of his life. He and Ann spent the fairweather months at the cottage at Caddy Lake. Bob was a planner - any time you saw him staring into space you knew that he had a new project in mind. He loved spending time there and was always busy doing something. He was always there for any of the family or neighbours to lend a helping hand. He took pride in teaching the young ones to waterski and spent many weekends behind the wheel of the boat. For many years, Bob curled at the West St. Paul Curling Club, but also spared for various other clubs.
Funeral services will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pat Harris and the Oncology Department, as well as all the staff on the 3rd floor at Concordia Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
