STEVE BRONEVITCH

Obituary of STEVE BRONEVITCH

STEVE BRONEVITCH October 31, 1931 – April 27, 2020 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Steve on April 27, 2020 at Concordia Hospital due to heart complications. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Gladys, daughter Darlene Van Seggelen (Joe Whiten), grandsons Nicholas and Andrew (Rebecca), sister Vera, many nieces and nephews as well as his long time friend Harry. He was predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and John, sister Mary, brothers Alex and Karl and son-in-law Rick Van Seggelen. Steve was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His fun-loving and gentle way was a trait that could take over any room or situation. Leaving school after grade 6 forced Steve to become a self taught man, a strength that carried him through many endeavors during his life. He had a work ethic second to none and this is proudly demonstrated in his 50 plus years as an iron worker ending his career as Site Supervisor. Steve held the honour of being the longest living member of his union. His expertise and craftsmanship are shown in many buildings and structures within Manitoba. In his retirement Steve taught himself electronics, resulting in a side business of satellite sales and installations. Steve also taught himself to use a computer so that he could keep in touch with family and friends. Also to get the latest deals on the web. Steve was an active member of The Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of St. Ivan Suchavsky. Steve enjoyed helping the Baba’s make perogies and with ticket ripping during the Spring Teas. Steve was a role-model to his family, friends, always willing to put in the work, lend a hand or piece of advice. Steve’s pride and joy were his grandsons. He loved to spend time with them, guiding them, making them laugh, spoiling them with candy and ice cream, telling tall tales of his own adventures as a youth, and watching them grow into the men they are today. He was their biggest supporter of anything that they wanted to try and would be there with loving advice on how to approach it better. The family would like to thank the doctors and hospital staff that cared for Steve over the last few years. They also would like to thank the home care workers for their compassion and kindness towards Steve. Due to imposed public health restrictions, a private family service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Cropo Funeral Chapel. We will all gather to celebrate Steve’s life once the public health conditions will allow. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, of Cancer Care Manitoba. The memory of you and your stories will live on with us forever, may you rest easy until we meet once more.
