Obituary of ROSE MUCKOSY

ROSE MUCKOSY (DUTCHAK) It is with much sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our mother and grandmother on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Rose leaves to cherish her many memories, her children, Shirley (Gord) O’Brien and Ron; her grandchildren Krisanne (Jon) Kurtas, Sean (Laura) O’Brien, Trevor Muckosy, Pam (Jon) Wood along with her brother Joseph (Helen) Dutchak, sisters-in-law Olga Ratchinsky, Anne Pedersen, Martha (John) Shymko, Helen Muckosky, brother-in-law Ed Barron, many nieces and nephews as well as Jean Shymko and other extended family members. Rose was predeceased by her husband Walter after 60 years of marriage, her sister Ann Eggertson, her brother Metro Dutchak, her sisters-in-law Mary Hnituk, Ann Muckosky, Julia Melesko, Nettie Barron, and brothers-in-law Mike, Bill and Paul Muckosky, Nick Melesko, Herman Ratchinsky, and Leonard Kruger. Rose was born on October 17, 1924, in Sky Lake, Manitoba, married Walter in 1943 and moved to Flin Flon, MB. Upon moving to Winnipeg, she enjoyed working outside of the home and especially enjoyed working at the downtown Bay for many years. Rose was a very kind and giving person, giving from her heart and giving all that she could make for others. Her passion was to sew and she would sew many things for others, from drapes to creative costumes for her grandchildren. If she wasn’t sewing for others she was cooking for them and became known for her blueberry perogies and Ukrainian eggrolls. Rose had a spirit of adventure and loved to travel and see the world with Walter, and her children. She loved all her family. She would play soccer with her grandchildren and take an active role in every grandchild’s event. She was so very proud of each of them and their accomplishments. Sincere thanks to the 3rd floor staff at Concordia Place where Rose became a resident this year. You treated Rose with dignity and respect and all of you are very special, dedicated people. The Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Saturday, November 17, at 10:00 a.m. with viewing commencing one hour prior. Interment will be held later in the day at All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rose’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to Rose’s church, St. Joseph’s Ukrainian Catholic Church at 250 Jefferson, R2V-OM6 "May God be with you, ‘til we meet again".
