My sincere condolences to Violet and all of Steve's loved ones.
Steve was a very caring and compassionate man. Even when his concerns may have been greater than yours, he still took an interest in others and their lives.
Steve was an excellent elder at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Edmonton for many years. He lovingly and prayerfully prepared the church for the Matins and Divine Liturgies.
May he be rewarded for his service.
Vichnaya Pamyat!

Dear Violet, we are very sorry for your loss. My parents, Frank and Mary Shewchuk, knew your father well and had a great deal of respect and affection for him. I was honoured to meet him before he left Edmonton and was impressed by his gentle spirit. May he rest in peace.

From: Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM, Carl & Vie Dziadyk, Winnipeg & Edmonton
Stephen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. May you find comfort in your many memories. When Stephen lived in Edmonton, and we were invited for mass and New Years celebration at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, we had such a great time with Stephen and his wife, along with Joyce & Bob Bayda, and Emily & Dr. Myron Stitichin. (Stephen was an older brother helping at the alter). We have been great friends for many many years. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk will have another mass for Stephen next week at St. Nicholas Church in Winnipeg. Христос Воскрес! Воістинy Bocкpec! Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen! Вічна йому пам’ятъ! Eternal memory! Vichnaya Pamyat.

I have many fond memories of Uncle Steve, from visiting him as a child in Edmonton, special Christmas and holiday dinners, and all of our family parties and barbecues over the last few years. His calm cheerfulness and kind smile always made you feel welcome and loved. He was the first of our (extended) family to meet our daughter, Cara, when she was just hours old. It was such a special and serendipitous moment that I remember fondly when I tell the story of when she was born. I am also reminded of the bond he shared with his sister, Anne (my baba), and how she always spoke so fondly of him and knew that he was always there for her. I love hearing stories about their childhood in Saskatchewan, and was lucky enough to find that he was friends with my husband’s extended family as well growing up. His love and pride for his family did not go unnoticed. He will be deeply missed.
All of our love during this difficult time. Xox

Our deepest condolence to you all. Take comfort in knowing he was so loved. Every moment we have spent with Uncle Steve was precious and the memories we have will be treasured. He was such a kind, caring, and thoughtful gentlman. Always asking how we are, and how the girls were doing. From Christmas’s, to birthdays and family gatherings, those memories will last a lifetime. He had such a sense of humour in his own way. There was always a hug when he walked into a room. He lived ,loved and laughed hard. He made everyone who crossed his path feel special. He will be missed dearly and always remembered. Sleep well Uncle Steve.
Love Lawrence & Leanne Stutsky

Our deepest condolences to the entire family. We knew Pan Steve through our church activities. I will fondly remember how he loved to work at the pyrohy suppers and how he never missed a Sunday in church to help as an elder. Our prayers to you Fialka. Tato always talked so fondly about you as we would share stories as we worked in the kitchen. I also remember the fun times when I took the CYMK members caroling in our zone in Castledowns. We would not miss singing for Pan Steve and Halya. Memory Eternal Pan Steve! Вічная Йому Пам'ять! All our love, MaryAnn and Bill Baziuk and Family

Beautiful tribute to a kind, loving and generous soul. My father considered him one of his closest friends and not a single celebration or event in our lives did not include him, whether vacations to Radium Hotsprings, my wedding, my children's births, Ukrainian Christmas' and carolling, anniversary parties, birthday parties, baptisms, church dinners. The list goes on. I still remember him driving us to sadochak together. I have lit a candle and will continue to pray for my "Uncle Steve" and please know my heart mourns with you. I pray that God embrace and comfort all of you as you grieve his loss. May his memory be Eternal from generation to generation. I can picture him now, laughing with my Dad and catching up on old times.
