Obituary of JADWIGA MAKSIMOWICZ

JADWIGA MAKSIMOWICZ On November 17, 2012, at St Joseph Residence, Jadwiga passed away at the age of 101 years. She was born and raised in Wilno, Poland. During the Second World War she worked as a nurse and after 1959 as a school teacher and secretary. She came to Canada in 1965, working as a seamstress and later took care of elderly people. For almost 30 years she resided in Polish Manor on Selkirk Ave. After a car accident in 2005 she moved to St. Joseph’s Residence. She will be remembered as a strong, dynamic, independent, outgoing and friendly woman. She was considered a self-motivated, generous and caring person, who always put others needs before her-own. She was modest and never complained about her difficult life situations. She was a great patriot and often talked about her love to her precious Wilno, "moje kochane i drogie Wilno". She had a strong sense of solidarity with her "wilniuki" people. She had a strong devotion to Matka Boska Ostrobramska and she prayed everyday to her Madonna. Matka Boska Ostrobranska holds you in Her arms now. You are with her forever. Jadwiga will be remembered by her daughter Barbara Bylina and family in Poland, by her friends from Polish Manor, and Sherbrook Swimming Pool where she went everyday until her car accident in 2005. She will also be remembered by her Polish friends and staff at St. Joseph’s Residence. Mass of Christain Burial will be held on Thursday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with interment in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
