Obituary of MARY BOJANOWSKI
MARY BOJANOWSKI
September 7, 1924 - August 5, 2020
On August 5, our mother passed away in her North End (“North Tuxedo”) home, and now, finally joins her predeceased husband Mike, whom she has so deeply missed for 14 years.
Left to mourn are daughters Sonia (Kirk) and Lesia (Sheldon), grandchildren Carly (Geoff), Jennifer (Wayne), Kori (Christiane), Breanne (Jared), great grandson Noah, and grand dogs Shiloh, Addie, and Chloe.
Mary was born in the Ukraine. At the age of 17 she left home to find work and soon became a worker on a farm in Germany. She learned about hard work and what it took to survive at an early age. With time she met Mike, her husband to be, and eventually made their way to England where daughter Sonia was born.
In 1949 they immigrated to Canada, finally settling in Winnipeg into their first and only home of 56 years. They completed their family with the birth of daughter Lesia. With no resources, no family, and a new language they managed to make a good life for us all.
Our mother was a very hard working woman, physically and mentally strong, and possessed tremendous stamina. She was very kind to all that knew her and extremely generous to her family.
She took great pride in her yard and would spend countless hours tending to her flowers and garden. She always told us she had the best yard on the block. Even on her last day on Earth she was able to sit in her backyard admiring and enjoying its beauty.
A special thank you is extended to the home care providers as well as the paramedics who attended to our mother that night.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice or to the English Gardens at Assiniboine Park.
Baba (Mom) will be sadly missed, but always remembered by our family. A private service has taken place.
