Obituary of RENE JOSEPH RITCHOT

With deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of René Ritchot on August 9, 2020 at the age of 49 years old. He fought hard to overcome cancer but was not successful. He was predeceased by his parents, Jean-Marie and Isabelle and his sister Lea. He is survived by his beloved wife Rocío, children and step children, Leanna, Dylan, Chloé, Ren, and Sebastien. He is also survived by his brother Albert. René will forever be remembered for his spur of the moment attitude, great sense of humor, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. He lived life to the fullest and always saw the best in people. Today, we celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven with our Heavenly Father watching over us. René enjoyed the company of his aunts, uncles and cousins, especially when they met for card games or family reunions. René loved to explore and travel with his wife and their children. He was an amazing trip planner and made sure the least travelled roads were explored wherever he went. René often surprised his wife with special trips and events, he was a thoughtful caring husband. René and Rocio instilled the joy of travel into their children, leaving them with the precious gift of unforgettable memories. René would plan trips to meet with his brother Albert, who was very dear to him. René was very proud of all the places he went. Jamaica, Cuba, St Martin, St Lucia, Hawaii, Uganda, Mexico, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Greece, London, Poland, Ireland, Turkey, Alaska, Dominican Republic, Nunavut, many travels across the US and Canada. Including last year’s unforgettable trip to Italy with his wife Rocio. René loved to drive, with map and sharpie in hand, planned routes to make sure we got to see as many places as we could. René loved his motorcycle. He planned many trips and drove long distances with his bike. The longest ride was when he bought his Valkyrie down in Florida. He flew down with Rocio and both ventured back to Canada on the bike. His sense of adventure was endless. René also loved music and going to concerts. René's passion to understand small business needs and to hone his accounting skills, challenged him to further his education and proudly became a CPA in 2016. René loved his work and took pride in finding solutions to help people as much as he could. The family has fond memories besides travel. Sebastien enjoyed gardening with Papa, Leanna enjoyed late night TV nights, Chloe would ask him to look up cars in the gold book to find the best deal, Dylan being encouraged to pursue Athletic Therapy and apply for every possible bursary, Ren reading the book Le Petit Prince and Rocio going out for breakfast and simply being around each other. A special thank you goes to all who knew and enjoyed Rene’s friendship throughout the years. Please keep René in your thoughts and prayers. A private Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, August 14, 2020. René will be buried in the Saint Antonie Roman Catholic Cemetery in Aubigny, Manitoba. “On ne voit bien qu’avec le cœur.
