Obituary of RUDOLF KENNETH MAGURA
Rudolf Kenneth Magura
September 24, 1937 – September 13, 2020
It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Rudy Magura.
Rudy is predeceased by his loving wife of almost 62 years, Judy. He is also survived by sons, Ken (Wendy), and Denis (Joanne). Dad too leaves, to cherish in his memory, four grandchildren, Kevin, Leah, Haylee, Conor, and great granddaughter, Isabelle.
Dad was born September 24, 1937 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm near Hazelridge, Manitoba.
As a young man, dad moved to Winnipeg and eventually took a position in Pointe du Bois, Manitoba, as an office clerk with Winnipeg Hydro, at the electric damn, on the Winnipeg River. This is where mom and dad met and fell in love. They were married October 4, 1958, in Cooks Creek, Manitoba.
Mom and Dad moved to Winnipeg in the early 1960’s to start their family and raise their boys. To support his family, dad worked as an auditor then accountant for over 30 years for Winnipeg Hydro. After retiring, he also worked as a guard for the Province of Manitoba.
Dad enjoyed gardening, woodworking, fishing, and puttering in the backyard.
He loved going to the cabin at Twin Lakes Beach and enjoyed many fun times with family and friends.
Mom and Dad enjoyed traveling throughout the years; hot holidays in Hawaii and Cuba, visiting family in British Columbia, and winter stays in Mesa, Arizona.
Dad was involved in his sons’ various sports. From coaching baseball when they were young, to coaching soccer as they got older. And later, both mom and dad supported their grandchildren’s sports as well. They were their greatest fans.
There was nothing more important to dad than his family. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and support them in all that they wanted to be. He was proud of all their accomplishments, no matter how big or small.
The love that dad had for mom was unconditional. It was evident in the last several years, as dad took care of mom when she took ill.
Dad, our love for you will keep us strong. Even though you’ve passed, you have touched us all with kindness, with a love that will be with us forever.
A service for Dad will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Tuesday September 22, at 2:00 pm, lunch to follow.
Only a limited number of people will be able to attend and will be by invitation only.
