Obituary of RUBY KRAFT
RUBY KRAFT
March 8, 1929 – November 8, 2020
On Nov. 8, 2020, while hearing our comforting words and soothing voices, our beautiful and loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother Ruby Kraft peacefully left this world with a silent breath.
Mom was born on March 8, 1929 to Elias (Alec) and Akulina (Kay) Demidiuk. Mom, along with her brothers and sisters were raised and educated in Parkside, SK. In 1945, their family moved to Winnipeg.
Our Dad and Mom met at a Sadie Hawkins Dance in 1949. Dad said he fell in love with Mom at first sight and he asked her to dance. On July 29, 1950 they danced again, but this time as Husband and Wife.
In 1971 Mom was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Throughout her life Mom's health was fragile but she beat Cancer five times and survived several surgeries. Although she often suffered with pain, she did her best to cope and managed to keep it hidden from us.
Mom worked part-time at Eaton's Downtown. Basically, she was dedicated to her family. She was kind and gentle and always made us feel loved. In her quiet and friendly way, she was the hub of the family, always keeping in touch with everyone by phone, sending cards and giving thoughtful gifts. She adored her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and her eyes would light up whenever she talked about them. In Mom's eyes everything they said and did was absolutely perfect!
Mom and Dad spent most of the summer months at their cabin in Grand Beach. They also enjoyed an evening walk while holding hands, going out for dinner, and trying their luck at the local Casino.
They were married 63 years and the highlights of their lives were the many, many, many get-togethers and visits and outings and hours and hours of time, special occasions and celebrations they shared with Barry and Marilyn and their families.
Sadly, our Dad, William Kraft passed away in 2013. In 2018, Mom developed heart problems and required a pacemaker. We then moved Mom to Maples Care Home where her Nurses and Health Care Aides and the Staff treated her not only with love and kindness but also treated her like she was their own Mother. She made several friends there and we visited so often that she never had a chance to be lonely.
In the Spring of 2020, Mom fell and fractured her hip and required surgery and in the Summer signs of the Cancer returning was apparent. Then, the horrible COVID virus took her life.
With tremendous sadness and sorrow, we say goodbye to our wonderful Mom. We love you Mom, and we will always miss you dearly. Thank you for being our everything!
Left to mourn Mom's passing are her brother Mack Demidiuk and wife Annie, her sister Mary Zaharia, and several nieces and nephews
