Obituary of JOSE ROSA
JOSE PEDRO ROSA
November 26, 1934 – December 4, 2012
It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of our father, husband, grandfather, Jose Pedro Rosa at the age of 78 years after a brief illness.
Jose was born in Agostos, Algarve, Portugal. He married the love of his life, Maria of 50 years in 1962.
In 1964 they left Portugal for Metz-Mosselle, France in search of a brighter future.
In 1967 Dad decided to immigrate to Canada where he started to work as a carpenter for the Kelsey Hydro Electric Project in Northern Manitoba and then for Inkster Park Millwork Ltd in Winnipeg for the next 36 years, from 1969 – 2005.
Jose will be greatly missed by his wife Maria, sons Valter, Filipe (Tracy) and precious granddaughter Precilla of Winnipeg. Also by his sister Vitalina (Manuel), niece Cidalia (Renaldo) of Portugal, his brother Americo in France as well as numerous cousins in Portugal.
Jose was a humble man, somewhat soft spoken. He lived modestly, appreciating the simple things in life. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, winemaking and the occasional trip overseas. Dad also enjoyed frequenting the Salisbury House and was known as Smiley.
The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Hospital, 4 North and Misericordia Place for making Dad’s final days most comfortable.
Viewing will take place on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main. Street. A graveside service will follow at the Fort Garry Roman Catholic Cemetery, 826 Crescent Drive.
