JANINA KOZLOVSKIS

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Janina Kozlovskis at St. Boniface Hospital on December 4, 2020 due to Covid 19 at the age of 93. Her sweet and loving spirit will be deeply missed. 

Janina was born on January 26, 1927 in Bakowce near Lwow, Poland, in what is now Ukraine.  At the start of the World War, she and her family were exiled to Siberia.  From Russia they were transported to various refugee camps throughout Asia and finally were settled for a longer period of time in a camp on the shores of Lake Victoria in Uganda, Africa.  From East Africa she immigrated to Canada to work in Regina, Saskatchewan as a domestic.

Eventually she moved to Winnipeg where she married and raised four children. She was a hard-working woman her entire life, in the garment industry, custodial duties, and catering services until she finally retired.  She was very involved in the Polish community, helping with community efforts, and was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Ghost Church. 

She was a very committed wife and always gave a helping hand and encouragement to all her children and grandchildren.

Janina was predeceased by her husband Alek in 1999 and three of her children, Lucy Page, Helen Solenik, and Joseph Solenik. 

She is survived by her daughter Annie Crowder of La Verne, California and nephews, Rick and Ed Wilkowski of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Melody, Joshua, Austin, and Destiny and great grandchildren, Lila, Sutton, and Beckett. 

She lived a life of service to her family and community. The last few years of her life Janina lived at Holy Family Nursing Home and we would like to thank the entire staff for their wonderful loving care. 

Due to the current pandemic, a private funeral will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Saturday, December 12 and interment will be held at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery.
