So sorry to hear of Sophie’s passing. My mother was one of her friends at Concordia Village and I believe was at times a recipient of Sophie’s love in the form of potato and cheese perogies. They used to get together every day for a visit. Mum passed away in December also due to Covid - now they can sit together again and keep watch over their loved ones.

For many years, Olga took Sophie with her to St. Edwards church on Sunday mornings. We spent many good and happy times at the "Red Pony" as well. The times we got together with Sophie and her husband Mike at Garfield Street were always full of fun and laughter. Sophie was also instrumental in bringing Olga and I to Concordia Village.
Thank you Sophie for being a good friend to us for many years. We will always love you. Rest in peace, my Dear.
Our deepest condolences to the Semkowski family.
Walter and Olga Norget.

Sophie has a part of my life since I was a child. Anytime she would introduce me to someone ( even up to a few months before she moved to Holy Family) she would say she knew me when I was just so high ( gesturing to the height of her knees).I will miss her laugh, her kindness and her hugs and of course her perogies!
My deepest condolences to the whole family.

I cherish the memories of Sophie from the day we met in Germany after the war. We travelled to Canada together; our families shared a house for a short time and we remained lifelong friends. We enjoyed many a laugh when we worked together at HSC . Over the past 8 years we again shared a home at Concordia Village. I will truly miss you my dear friend

I was a miserable excuse for a man 33 years ago, and Sophie’s kitchen was always a rewarding place to have heartfelt talks. Sophie just asked me straight out, “ You go to Church?” Sophie lived her Faith as a Matriarch, as a Saint. Even that beautiful necklace of hers is a prayer Rosary. If Sophie had respect for the direction you were headed, then she would have time for you in her kitchen. And homemade pyrogies, too.
