Obituary of JOHN NEWMAN FOSTER
JOHN NEWMAN FOSTER
September 1, 1960 - April 9, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Foster, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, at the age of 60, due to a glioblastoma.
He is survived by his wife Lori; children, Ashley and Jonathon (Emily); stepchildren, Tyler (Brittany) and Jennifer; grandchildren, Mason and Logan; sister Christine (Brian);nephew Kyle and niece Joanna.
John was born in Winnipeg and was predeceased by his parents, Art and Gay Foster. John was the owner of Parkside Appliance for 31 years alongside a lifelong commitment to working and volunteering with Emergency Services (ARES and WARC) as a HAM radio operator. John was happiest when he was giving of himself - he was the first to volunteer for whatever charity needed him - whether it be as a mascot for a children's event, a volunteer for Fishing for a Cure, medical services for Manitoba Marathon or Winnipeg Flood assistance. In 1996, John was given a service award by the mayor and chief deputy firefighter Tom Mills for his diligence in saving a drowning child.
John always loved tinkering with cars and boats. His retirement years often found him under the hood of his newest "old" purchase or behind the wheel of his boat as he cruised the Red River. He was a member of the MRSA car club and the Royal Manitoba yacht club. He loved to meet up with the "guys" at Tim's for his daily coffee and chat and regale them with his newest tale.
His kindness to others, love for his family and wanting to give of himself will be his legacy.
The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview 3E for providing loving comfort during his last month.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place when Covid restrictions are lifted.
In John's memory, donations may be made to MB Cancer Care Foundation or a charity of choice.
