Ed in his golden years was blessed to find a special companion and friend in Ida Wreggit. Ed loved the Dakota's and was able to share this with Ida. She had never been there before and their vacation would be Ed's last trip down South. Ed relished being a tour guide of Sturgis, Wal Drug, Mount Rushmore, Sioux City, Theodore Roosevelt Nation Park, Deadwood. Ed knew every Saloon, "Hole in the wall" with the best food, museums, mini-golf, every attraction from Dauphin Mb to Medora SD. Over the years he took many family members and friends on his magical guided tour of the Dakotas. If you weren't with him on the trip then you were sure to have a visit from him when he came back. Always baring gifts of Birch Beer, Sioux City Sarsaparilla and Saltwater Taffy and Sugar Sticks, and that is just to name a few of the treats he would bring back. Ed remained Ida's faithful steadfast friend until her passing at Gilbert Plains PCH.

Ed will be remembered for his generosity, thoughtfulness, and caring heart. He expressed friendship by sharing his cooking and baking. He made dozens and dozens of cinnamon buns, pies, matrimony cake and cookies of all type at Christmas and through out the year. Ed was also a Santa to many children at Christmas. He bought coats, boots, mitts and hats for any child who needed or had outgrown and that was 25+ kids. On many occasions Ed would make up a Christmas bounty for a family he had never met. He would show up with boxes, complete with food, gifts, baking and stockings he had filled with tiny wrapped treasure. He had only to hear that someone was having hardships and off he went on his mission to make a family happy at Christmas. He was always the first one there to help.

Ed had favorite people he liked to spend time with over the years, some of which are The Mullen Family, The Garton family, The Yarema Family, Fair brothers, The Hamende Family, The Hodges Family, The Monchka Family, and The Alberts Family. In fact so many people touched Ed's life that as I am writing this, I know that I will miss mentioning you. I can only say to you that Ed never forgot you. You are written in his heart. Ed's obituary would not be complete without thanking all the Helpers, Good Deed Doers and those he considered Lifesavers, starting with his Doctor; Dr. Fred Fjeldsted, J.Doug Deans, Sheri Gardner and Marion Penerowski and his friends at Lorray Manor, Homecare "Buddies" Cindy Rogers and Donna Rudkewich, who took such good care of him. Joanne Rank for your profession and showing up to chat with Ed. You knew he needed a visit at times. Thank you Lena Koshowski for all you did for Ed, Thank you Linda Schultz ( Peter) and long time friend Kathy Yarema. Kathy, there are no words to Thank you for all you have done over many years and for always being there for Ed. Thank you to all the caring Homecare workers; Val, Jodie, Casey, Shelly, Marlene, Kristin, Doreen, Gail, special thank you to Nettie and of course Jordan Campbell and family. Thank you Jordan for keeping an eye on him and for caring as you do. He just loved making treat bags for those 5 little ones of Lorray at holiday times and his treat cupboard that he made sure to have stocked with little sweets and chocolate bars. It was his way of showing friendship and appreciation. Those that knew him loved him and will forever miss him dearly.

At the time of his passing, Ed was residing in Winnipeg, Mb. with his long time friend of 40 years; former Daughter-in-law Mary-Lyn Griffith, her husband Herb Griffith and Ed's Granddaughter-in-heart Jaida Anjolie Griffith.

If friends desire to make a donation to a Charity in Ed's honour, his favorite charities were Siloam Mission and War Amps.
