Obituary of SHANE LE WOODS

SHANE LE WOODS

Shane Le Woods tragically passed away on August 3rd, 2021 in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 31.

Shane was predeceased by his grandmother Wendy Vincent (nee Parsons), his best friend Jamie Sinclair as well as aunts, uncles and other missed family members.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his mother and stepfather Sandra and Shawn Nahkala, brother Alexander Thibert, and his sisters Courtney and Veronica Thibert. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandfather Fred Vincent, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shane was born and raised in Winnipeg where he developed his love of sports and in particular football. He graduated from Sisler High School in 2008. In his formative years he was a proud member of the East Side Eagles Football Club where he shared his love of the game with both his Mom and his Grandma who would lovingly yell encouragement from the stands. Often to his chagrin! He was later a member of the Sisler Spartans Football Team and had dreams of making it to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

As a young adult Shane was diagnosed with schizophrenia which changed the shape of his dreams and formed a different adulthood than the one he dreamed about.  When he was well enough, he attended adult education classes to continue to learn about the world around him, he enjoyed Bomber and Jets games with his mom, grandmother, and aunt Leslie and uncle Carl. Though nothing topped the excitement of watching the Grey Cup, watching the LA Rams (previously St Louis) during playoff season came close.

The family would like to thank the hard working and compassionate staff at the Health Sciences Centre PY3 and PX3 who were often a source of comfort and support for Shane. We would also like to thank the caring and support of the Winnipeg Police Service shown to his family on the day of Shane’s passing.

A public visitation will be held on Monday, August 9th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street in Winnipeg. Immediately preceding the public viewing will be a private time for the family to wish Shane well in his spiritual journey. Please come celebrate Shane’s life with us and all the happy memories he created for everyone he knew.
