Peacefully, with his family by his side, it is with great sadness that the family of Bodhan (Bud) Schurko announces his passing on Thursday, October 7, 2021. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, stepfather, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was predeceased by his wife Rose, his parents John and Katherine Schurko, his in-laws Mary and Dymtro  Mozol, Ted Mozol, Phyllis Clarke, Robert Thompson, Georgia Schurko and nephew Robin Schurko. He is survived by his wife Mary, children- Brent (Teresa), Cathie (Gus), grandson James and brother Alex Schurko. He is also survived by his stepchildren Tim (Michelle), Donna, Kevin, and Darcy (Sandra). He leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Bud leaves his family and friends with decades of fond memories to be cherished. 

Bud grew up on his family farm in Zbaraz, Manitoba which remained a favourite place of his throughout his life. He worked for 37 years at CN retiring as supervisor of the car shop.  Bud was an active volunteer for many years, a couple of highlights include his role as a convener in the Winnipeg Minor Hockey Association and President of the East St. Paul Curling Club and President of North Kildonan Community Centre. Bud was a charismatic leader who was deeply committed to his family and friends.  As a talented musician, he played the saxophone and clarinet in various bands and at the Swedish Pavillion at Folklorama. His love of sports spread through his family with him as the number one fan and a manager for many teams. His love for the Toronto Blue Jays, golf, curling and music will never be forgotten. Bud got a hole in one at Lorette Golf course at 85 years old. Bud showed everyone how with passion, dedication and hard work you can make anything happen.

Due to Covid restrictions, a small tribute to Bud’s life was held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 with a private burial at All Saints Cemetery where he was laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CancerCare Manitoba. Personal condolences may also be shared with the family through Cropo Funeral Chapel.
