Obituary of DAVID ARTHUR MICHAEL DORGE

David Arthur Michael Dorge

April 22, 1943 – October 21, 2021

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our father, husband, and Papa, David Arthur Michael Dorge.

David’s memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Diana (nee Joseph), his children Melissa, Jason (Carri-Anne) and his precious Grandsons, Jackson and Joseph.

David will be dearly missed by his siblings, Vivian (Raymond) Bazin, Eleanor (Leon) Morrissette, Donald (Beverly) Dorge, Michael (Pamela) Dorge, sister-in-law Deborah (Denis) Lagasse, brother-in-law’s Darryll (Lori) Joseph, Dwayne (Janice) Joseph, as well as many nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his parents Cyril Dorge and Theresa (Clavelle) Dorge, as well as his mother-in-law Josephine (Budz) Joseph and father-in-law George Joseph.

David was born on April 22, 1943 in Winnipeg, MB. He spent his time growing up in St. Boniface, and St. Norbert. In 1964 he started his career with the City of Winnipeg. In 1968, David married the love of his life Diana. They spent 53 years, sharing a wonderful love, life and raising their family in St. Norbert. In 2013, they moved to Ile des Chenes. In 1995 he retired after 31 years with the City of Winnipeg, and started enjoying retired life at the age of 52. David spent the first part of his retirement with Diana, taking day trips and a memory making trip to the East Coast and back.

Dad was a gentle, compassionate, committed and loving man, husband, father and papa. Everyone who met him and knew him can agree. His love and passion for sports, from coaching hockey and baseball, to never missing a game of Melissa’s or Jason’s growing up, to Jackson and Joseph’s. He was always in the crowd cheering them on and being their biggest supporter.

Later in Papa’s retirement he spent time volunteering at Ile des Chenes Immersion with Jackson and Joseph. He attended their field trips, school concerts and sporting events; always being their number one fan in the crowd. Everyone knew him as Papa! Nothing made Papa happier than spending time with his grandsons and family.

We would like to thank the Ile des Chenes EMT and St. Pierre RCMP for their help, kindness and compassion during this time.

Flowers are respectfully declined, but if you wish donations can be made in David’s name the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Due to Covid restrictions, a limited funeral service with immediate family will take place, with interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery.
