JOAO (JOHN) MANUEL DA COSTA BOTELHO
March 31, 1949 - November 1, 2021
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father & grandfather Joao Manuel Botelho at 72 years of age on November 1, 2021 at Health Sciences Centre.
Joao was predeceased by his parents Joao & Maria Delfina Botelho, mother and father-in-law Maria de Jesus & Altino Sousa, brothers in-law Joao Carlos Sousa & Carlos Costa and goddaughter Paula Marques.
He leaves to mourn the love of his life for the last 51 years Maria Evelina along with his three children Rui (Lucilia), Nelson (Tanis), Marlene (Ross). Grandchildren Xavier, Amber,Thiago,Austin,Nevaeh, Landon, Savannah & Dylan. Sister Maria Costa and her children Irene (Javier, Malaika& Maesha), John, Michael (Melanie, Nathan, Kaitlynn, Jaden &Brooklynn), brother-in-law Dinarte Sousa (Elisabete), sister-in-law Conceicao Sousa of Sao Miguel, Acores, sister-in-law Cilena Sousa. Godchildren Zelia & Ricardo of Sao Miguel, Sonia, Cheryl, Maria Evelina & Mark and many other family & friends.
Joao Manuel was born on March 31, 1949 in Sao Miguel, Acores, he immigrated to Canada with his parents on his 18th birthday; the love of his life soon followed and they started their family. Dad was the most devoted husband, father & grandfather. Everything he did was for his precious wife and children. He was an amazing grandpa and had a special bond with each of his grandchildren they are his greatest joy.
In his 34 years at Versatile Farm Equipment then Buhler Versatile he made many lasting friendships with all those he worked with. Joao had many friends and he was always there with a helping hand and a kind word.
Thank you to Dr. Kasper, Dr. Jacob, the nurses and other members of the medical team at HSC GA4for the care they provided.
Dad, though are hearts are broken and a void left for always, we know that you are now at peace in the arms of our creator. We had plans but Gods plans were greater. We will love you forever and miss you always, until we meet again.

Visitation will take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. On Monday November 8, 2021 for those WITHOUT proof of vaccination from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A second viewing to be held for those WITH proof of vaccination from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday November 9, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N. with Monsignor Comeault officiating. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave.
