Obituary of STEVEN ERIC ROBINSON
STEVEN ERIC ROBINSON
September 12, 1955 - January 4, 2013
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Steven Eric Robinson after a lengthy and challenging battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of his family he passed away peacefully on January 4, 2013 at the age of 57.
Steve will be deeply missed by his loving wife and caregiver, Christine Krucko, his children, Meagan, Jessie, David and Eli and granddaughter Hannah who was the sparkle in his eye. He also leaves to mourn his parents, Doug and Dorene Robinson, sisters Tina (Bryon) Lang, Lynn (Rene Gonzalez), brother, Lee (Joanne Mariutti), many nephews and nieces and his extended family in England.
Steve was born in Blackpool, England and in 1966 immigrated with his family to Canada where he first lived in Carievale, Saskatchewan and then spent his teenage and high school years in Kenora, Ontario. He obtained a Fine Arts Honours degree from the University of Manitoba, settled in Winnipeg, and started raising his family and pursuing a career as a Raku Artist which became his lifelong passion. He chose raku as a medium because he fell in love with the raku process: creating his own designs, hand building, and gaining a sense of connection with Nature and Mother Earth during firing. Many canoe trips through the Canadian Shield helped to inspire Steve's unique raku pieces. Steve's work is distributed in many art galleries/shops throughout Winnipeg and Canada.
Steve and his wife loved spending many happy hours every summer at the cottage at Hillside Beach where Steve could fish and canoe with his trusted dog, Moon.
Steve will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, his creativity and for living life "off the beaten track". His kind, sensitive and gentle nature will forever be in our hearts.
The family would like to thank Dr. P. Czaykowski and Dr. V. Gordon, as well as Tom Roche, from CancerCare and the staff at Riverview, Wing 3E for their support, encouragement and professional help.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Steve, to CancerCare Manitoba.
