Mom was born in Lettelier, MB. Some years later their family moved to Ste. Lazare, MB where she attended school. At a very early age she had to leave school to assist with the family after her father took ill. During that time, she met a handsome young man named Duncan who eventually became her husband. The two were married on May 04, 1945 and spent 73 years together.

While the children were growing up the family relocated to many different towns in Manitoba and Saskatchewan while dad worked for the CPR. Mom looked after the home, raised the children, and tended to the household duties. Times were tough back then as there wasn’t running water or indoor plumbing and they used wood or coal to heat the home and cook food. She had to wash clothes by hand and hung them on the clothesline.

Mom managed to do her fair share of travelling visiting her siblings in Alberta and British Columbia. A deck of cards always found it’s way into her luggage. She loved to play Canasta and played it well. In fact, she taught several of her children and grandchildren to play the game as well. Card tournaments and Bingo were her passion. She also loved sports and was a loyal Toronto Blue Jays and Winnipeg Jets fan.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the doctor’s, nurses, and medical staff at the Grace Hospital for their wonderful care of our mother.

Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, you will forever remain in our hearts and prayers.
