ANA GUMZ EICHSTAEDT

Obituary of ANA PRISCILA GUMZ EICHSTAEDT

Ana Priscila Gumz Eichstaedt

February 2, 1989 – November 13, 2021

In a town called Jaragua do Sul, Brazil, on February 2, 1989 a brilliant light came into this world. Ana Priscila Gumz Eichstaedt learned to walk, talk, make friends, and all other things children get to learn, but it wasn’t until May 2015 that Ana, now a Canadian resident met Sam d’Auteuil and began to learn what life and love were really all about.

A few short years later the pair learned what it means to be a parent. While Ana was quick to smile and quicker to laugh, it is the brightest of lights that go out too quickly. On November 13, 2021 at age 32, Ana had lost her battle with depression. The world is now darker without her light. Instead her light is reflected in everyone she touched. It is through those reflections Ana will continue to shine.

Ana made her first trip to Canada in 2006 as an exchange student at Silver Heights Collegiate in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she found a home away from Brazil. After high school Ana returned to Brazil where she completed her law degree from the University of the Itajai Valley. Never being able to shake the feelings of warmth that came from her time in Winnipeg, she made the decision to move permanently to her home away from home and build a new future for herself. In a foreign land, she first earned another accreditation in International Business, with Red River Polytech, then again she became a student of law. Ana persevered and made many friends along the way.

On May 2nd of 2015, she agreed to go on her last, first date. While Ana had her battles she enjoyed a whirlwind of love, friendship and adventure, not least of which was Sam and Ana bringing their new beautiful light into view. Emmanuel (Manny) d’Auteuil was born on July 24, 2019. Since then Ana continued to work towards her permanent citizenship, law degree, and building a home with her growing family.

Ana leaves behind her husband Samuel, and son Emmanuel d’Auteuil.
