Obituary of DARRELL ALLAN HIEBERT

Darrell Allan Hiebert

April 16, 1958 – December 6, 2021

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved father on Monday, December 6, 2021.

Dad leaves to mourn his son Dallan (Danielle), his daughter Cara, his brother Dan, sister Patti (Peter), nieces Erika, Kristin (Kyle) and Deni (Adam), nephews Drew (Ashley) and Devin, great niece Zhanna, great nephews Aidan, Rylan and George, our mother Tracey, her siblings and extended family.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Hilda and sister-in-law Theresa.

Dad was born and raised in St. Vital, attending both Glenlawn and Dakota Collegiate.  Being very much the “rebel”, there are probably still many from high school who will remember dad from those days, with a smile and a chuckle.  Dad loved skiing and the outdoors.  He often spoke of the ski trip to Big White that he took with his good friend Rick and how he very much wanted to ski the mountains again.  However, work and family soon took priority and the mountain slopes had to wait.  Dad had sales in his blood and excelled at that, finding employment with Simmons Rentals first on the order desk and then successfully making his way up to sales rep.  Over the years, the company changed hands, but dad stayed true, continuing in sales, working closely with his boss and very good friend Bob.  Many other friendships developed as the business continued to change and the sales force grew to include an additional two reps, Rick and Herb.  Along with dad, they helped the construction rental business profit and grow to become Battlefield Rentals.

Dad worked hard but always had time for his long time friends Glenn, John, Roy and Andre.  For many years, it was tradition for the group to set aside a “boy’s weekend” every September at John’s cabin.  Here they would relax, eat good and catch up on each other’s lives.  We always knew dad had a great time when he returned on Sunday afternoon exhausted.  Dad, very fondly, spoke of those weekends often.  He treasured that time with his friends.

Family vacations always involved the outdoors; camping or renting a cabin on a peaceful lake, attending family reunions in Killarney and Crystal City.  He was an avid golfer and whenever possible, he would try to get as many games in as he could.  Dad was a big supporter of any sport we decided to play.  He would always be seen at Little League baseball games, even trying out coaching at one point.  He quietly sat and watched many figure skating practises and competitions, basketball and volleyball games.  Not only in our early years, but as adults, dad was very proud of us.  He would tell everyone about us, “Dallan is doing this”, “Cara did that” and so on.

Our hearts and lives are missing a large piece but we take comfort in the memories we hold of dad and the knowledge that he is at peace.  Dad, we love you, miss you and will remember you always.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christmas Cheer Board or Toy Mountain.
