Obituary of WALTER WOLK

Wally Wolk

July 6, 1933 – January 25, 2022

Wally Wolk passed after a short illness at the Grace General Hospital in the early morning on January 25, 2022.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 63 years Ollie, and sons, Gary and Kevin (Sande) and brother Frank (Kay). Nephews and nieces; Kathy, Don, Perry, Joyce, and Andrew.

Wally was born in 1933 in Hadashville, Manitoba, one of five children. In his teen years, the family moved to Winnipeg.

Our mum and dad met in the 50’s and married in Winnipeg in August 1958. They had a shared love of dancing and socializing with friends.

Dad had a career in graphic design and worked for a number of advertising firms as a layout artist.  At home he enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. First thing, every single morning, you’d find him on the living room couch doing the Free Press crossword puzzle.

Dad was also very active outdoors; right up until his late 70’s. He enjoyed cycling, cross-country skiing and going on long walks. He particularly loved going for long bike rides from our family cabin up at Wanasing Beach. Later on as dementia slowly advanced on him, he still loved going for long drives with his sons and we enjoyed his quiet presence.

A funeral prayer service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. All guests must be fully vaccinated and present proof.

A livestream will be available to those unable to attend on Wally's obituary page at www.cropo.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
