They rest together in peace.

Dear Johnny, apathies and families,
I first met your father as the principal of Princess Margaret School (1970ish). We then had our first child and I was a stay at home mother until 1982. When I contacted your dad to tell him we were back in Winnipeg and I was looking for substitute work, he was a great support to me and after a year of subbing, he hired me at John de Graff. We always had a great connection and we talked from time to time and what I remember most was his love of “family” and how important family and Ukrainian traditions were. He always held a special place in my heart. He gave both my parents their last rites, our father passing in 1999 and our mom in 2016, and officiated at my mom’s celebration of life (2017) along with your dear mother, Sonia. He was a very loving and caring man and I am proud to say that I knew him.

Dear Patti and Johnny.
I write this with gratefulness to having known your Dad Rev. John Melnyk. He visited my Mother (Olga Nykoliation) faithfully @River East Personal Care Home so many years ago. Once upon my visit I walked in unexpectedly to Mother's room and I remained silent as Rev John was giving Mother Holy Communion, With the Palsy she had Mother could hardly open her mouth. He gently placed a "crumb" of Holy Bread and placed some of the Holy Wine on her lips and she received as she slipped her lower lip into her mouth to receive Holy Communion. Rev John used to call her "Babynia" in a caring way. You know I stayed silent throughout that very very moving moment in time of Mother receiving Communion by your Rev John. My son and I wanted your Father to preside over the Panahyda for Mother but that was not to be...he could only preside over a short part of the Panahyda and that has continued to make me sad since we were so connected with Rev John.
Some time later I attended Kiev Folklorama and entered the Community Setting where food was served and Band was playing and saw your Dad & Mom and you Patti at a table and went to you all...Introduced myself and mentioned Mother's Name to Rev. He rose..Dobrodivka rose and you did too Patti and we all embraced and cried together.
Then we continued fellowshipping together there at that venue continuing to sharing memories of Mother.
Sweet memories of Rev John ...your Dad. I will always have those and keep them.
My sincere Condolences
