Obituary of SCOTT JAMES SMITHSON
Scott James Smithson
Scott was born in Winnipeg on February 5, 1979 and passed away February 6, 2022.
He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his mother Heather, sisters Leanna and Elaine (John), nieces Brooklyn, Julia, nephew Myles, step-mom Janina, other relatives, close friends and work mates.
Scott was predeceased by his father Jim, brother Andrew, step-sister Michelle, maternal and fraternal grandparents.
He was an open, friendly, kind and considerate type of man. He often gave a listening ear to those in need of a sounding board.
Scott grew up and attended French immersion schools, played several sports and participated in many youth activities in the West Kildonan area. He particularly enjoyed hockey, fishing, golf, swimming, tennis and playing crib for the “supreme championship” against his mom.
Summer vacations were always a joy to behold. Scott and his siblings would go camping and as of late go to the Elkhorn Resort at Clear Lake to have fun. Then there were the road trips out West. As the family grew older and sat around the kitchen table, family vacation memories were always a hot topic.
Scott loved his 1% milk. It was his ‘go to” drink of choice. He loved his sweets as well- milk duds, sour soothers and black licorice were a main staple. What a guy!
Scott’s profession was a taper/sander at a local company. He was a well-respected employee and one often wondered if he ever got “mud” on his projects (yes he was messy) but got the job done. Clean up too!
He loved to garden and took great care of his mom’s tomato plants so that she and his sister Leanna could make salsa in the fall.
A Celebration of Life is planned for April 9, 2022 at 12:00 noon at West Kildonan Memorial Community Centre, 346 Perth Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Adult and Teen Challenge, 83 Kate Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1J9 or a charity of your choice.
