Obituary of YVONNE MARIE TELGARSKY

YVONNE TELGARSKY

On Thursday, March 11, 2022, Yvonne Telgarsky (nee Favreau) passed away at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg. She was 91 years of age. Yvonne was born on August 17, 1930, in Kenora, Ontario.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Antoinette Favreau, her husband, Joseph Telgarsky, and her sister, Lucille. She leaves to mourn and cherish fond memories, her daughters, Arlene (Jacques) and Linda (Michael), and son, Jeff (Ann); grandchildren, Nicole (Conrad), Vivian (Will), and Eric; sister, Lorraine; and nieces and nephews.

Yvonne was a ray of sunshine in the lives of everyone she met. Her graciousness, quick smile, and laughter were welcoming to all in every facet of her life. She taught us how to be grateful for the people around us and both the big and small things in life.

In her early life, Yvonne loved to travel, sailing to England with friends for a months-long trip to Britain and Europe and making other trips to New York, Los Angeles, and Bermuda. She met her husband Joe in Kenora and they settled in Transcona after their marriage in 1958.

Yvonne was a life-long reader, taking her children to the Transcona public library every week in the 1960s and continuing to enjoy a wide range of books into her 80s. She was an active member of her community, volunteering with the Brownies, Meals on Wheels, and at her parish, Blessed Sacrament. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Devonshire House, Irene Baron Centre, and Riverview Health Centre for all of the excellent care and support that they provided. We are grateful to Lorelei Hiebert, who cared for Yvonne as if she were family.

Yvonne will be honored in a celebration of life at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17. The family asks that those attending please wear masks. In remembrance of Yvonne’s life, the family asks that those who wish to express sympathy please consider donating to charities of their choice or ones that were important to her: Rossbrook House, Agape Table, or the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

“Love you, Mum.”
