We are so very sad to not be able to give our condolences to your family in person today. We are with you all in spirit. George was a dear and gentle man who was a great friend to anyone he came in contact with. I enjoyed coaching the many ringette games alongside George (really i was just a gate opener). He would get so excited if our team was ahead in points. Remember the time he fell off the bench because he got so excited? There are so many memories that we have of our time with George and your family that we hold dear. We cherish every one of them and will hold him in our hearts forever. Rest in peace George.

I only just heard of George's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him for many years in his role with the community centre. He was always a voice of reason, and a true gentleman. He was a great help and source of wisdom and experience to me when I first began working with our own community centre.
My condolences to your family. I know he will be missed by many.

We are very sorry to hear of George's passing and send sincere condolences to Darlene and the family. We will always remember George as a good man with a ready smile and helpful hand. We were happy to work along side George at Northwood Community Centre and admired all he did, not only for his own children, but for all the children in the entire neighbourhood. Wishing the family strength and peace at this time. Sincerely, Connie (and Henry) Schritt

I first met George in 1980 when he issued my gear, and he struck me as being very kind and gentle spoken. Why I remember it was him, was that every time I saw him thereafter, usually weeks apart, he always nonchalantly knew my first name from the hundreds of other members that appeared at his counter-top in stores. He was so humble, that he thought nothing-of-it when I always said, “George, how the heck do you always remember my name?” I was nobody special, just another short-haired fellow in blue, so how he did it I don’t know, but it made you feel special. My condolences to George’s family.

I knew George when he worked with the Winnipeg Police Service. I also knew him through his involvement with Ringette. He was the nicest person any could find.
