GILLES LaFLEUR

Obituary of GILLES MARC JEAN JOSEPH LaFLEUR

GILLES LAFLEUR

Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend and our Inspiration.

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gilles LaFleur on April 8, 2022, at the age of 70.

During the last years of his life, he had to contend with chronic heart disease which limited his freedom to live life but he soldiered on and continued, in spite of near-constant pain, to exercise and swim at the YMCA, visit with his friends at their homes or at restaurants in the city, and even lend a hand in educating children who are home-schooled.

He is predeceased by his parents, Marcel and Germaine (née Couture), and two of his brothers, Philippe and Richard (Margaret).

He leaves to mourn firstly, his beloved daughter Baénie, his brothers and sisters, Fernand, Lucie, Conrad (Monique), Monique (Christophe), René (Gabrielle), and Dominic (Melissa). He also leaves behind nephews, nieces and many friends, all of whom he cherished throughout his life.

Gilles will be lovingly remembered as a man who was all heart - a heart that was always open, gracious and generous, offering wisdom and comfort to all. To anyone who knew him, Gilles had a unique personality and authentic character, ranging from straight forward insightfulness to innocent childlike charm. Gilles captivated peoples' hearts and minds, with his irresistible smile, radiant joy, quick wit and subtle sense of humour. You could always count on him to offer plenty of advice, and assistance for any kind of problem, no matter how great or small, for anyone, anytime, anywhere. His attitude inspired others to overcome any challenge or fear in life. For this reason, he was a life-coach to many, especially when he himself was experiencing trials and difficulties. We all miss you deeply Gilles. You will live on forever in our hearts and our lives will never be the same without you.
