Obituary of GUNEGUNDA ROMULO VILLAVERDE DAQUIGAN
Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 17, 2022 at Winnipeg, Manitoba at the age of 74 years.
She was predeceased by: her father Honorato Villaverde, mother Julia Romulo Villaverde, brothers Zoilo Villaverde, Fidel Villaverde, and Sister Amanda Villaverde.
Gunegunda (Genia) is survived by her husband, Venancio Daquigan, sons Jonathan and Jeffrey Daquigan and daughter-in-law Aidyle Daquigan.
She also leaves her brother, Xavier Villaverde, (spouse Mila), sisters Marietta Persian (spouse Richard), Natividad Aquino (spouse Manuel), Sinforosa Malabad (spouse Ramon) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Genia was born and raised in Lucban, Quezon Philippines on March 3, 1948. Immigrated to Canada in 1973, then returned to the Philippines in 1976 to marry Venancio and subsequently reuniting together later in that year in Canada. She worked as a Health Care Aide for 33 years at St. Joseph’s Residence. She lived a very simple life enjoying family gatherings taking in the pleasures of daily outings with her husband, sons and sisters. Genia is cherished by many and was generous to those in need. She had a true devotion to our Blessed Virgin Mary that helped and guided her through her sorrowful needs.
The family thanks the entire Daquigan, Persian, Aquino, families, in laws, and friends that supported her and husband and sons in their time of need. The family also thanks those at Seven Oaks Hospital Dialysis who has made her visits a pleasant one with laughter and joy. Additionally the family also thanks those at the St. Boniface Intensive Cardiac Care for accommodating the family in her final moments.
A Prayer Vigil will be held on, Sunday April 24, 2022 at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday April 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Church 478 McKenzie St, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Following the Mass, refreshments and sandwiches will be offered at the basement of the church before proceeding to the interment site, located at the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery at 3990 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
If guests so desire to donate, the family asks that Mass Stipends be made to their Priest of their own choosing for the repose of the soul of their beloved wife and mother Genia.
