Obituary of JOHN SITKO
JOHN SITKO
June 30th 1939 – April 21st 2022
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my Father John Sitko on Thursday, April 21st 2022 at Saint Boniface Hospital at the age of 82 years.
John is survived by his Son Phillip Sitko, Sisters; Olive Matiation, Joyce Niznowski, Janet (Albert) Zemianski, Lillian (Malvin) Maximitch, Thelma (Wallace) Piercy and Sylvia Raginski; Brother, Frank Sitko, and John’s numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his Sister Marcia Sitko, Brother Mike Sitko, and parents, Steve and Dora Sitko; brothers-in-law, Frank Matiation, Peter Niznowski, Bill Raginski and sister-in-law Sophie Sitko and my Mom Elizabeth Keeley.
John was born on the Family Farm just north Oakburn MB and raised there. He was educated at St. John’s School which was just East of the Family Farm. When he made the big move to Winnipeg as an adult he worked for Rice Sportswear where he worked very hard in various positions. During his 35 year career for Max Shore he met the love of his life, Elizabeth Keeley.
He loved his family and spent most of his time with them so never really traveled much in his life but got to achieve a dream of visiting the Grand Ole Opry not once but 3 times in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Family was everything to him even if he did not show it.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main street on Thursday April 28, 2022.
Burial will take place back home in Oakburn close to his Parents.
A recording of the service will be available to view on this page on Thursday, April 28th in the afternoon.
