HALINA IRENE ADEY

Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer and dementia, it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Halina Irene Adey on May 6, 2022, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 83 years.

She is survived by her daughter Susan Bagg and son-in law Jeff Bagg, her son Michael Adey and daughter in-law Debby Adey; grandson Mitchell Adey, granddaughters Lisa Adey and Kaitlin Edwards; nephew John Foster and his wife Donna Foster.  Also cousin Jean Sorko.

Halina is predeceased by her husband Richard Adey and Mother and Father Bronislawa and Dionizy Urbanowicz and sister Kasmere Foster and brother-in law James Foster.

Halina will be missed by many friends most notably Gerry and Jim Kulik who remained long-term friends since elementary school and Ken Baccus who was Halina’s companion for many years spending time at their respective cottages at Brereton Lake, playing numerous games of cards, gambling at McPhillips Street Station and attending music events at Club Regent Event center.

Mom was a heart full of sunshine. She was thoughtful with her words, kind and generous. She carried herself with constant grace and never had a bad thing to say about anyone, Mom worked as an Administrative Assistant for Winnipeg School Division Number one for her entire career where Mom developed many friendships that continued after retiring with girl’s lunch gatherings often.

Mom’s passion was her gardens maintaining beautiful flower and vegetable gardens at both her house in Winnipeg and her cottage at Brereton Lake in the Whiteshell.

In addition to spending summers at the cottage, Mom spent many winters living in Texas and golfing.  Mom loved to travel, taking a trip to Portugal with her niece, Caribbean cruises, numerous trips with her daughter to Europe, Vegas, Palm Springs, Florida and years of horse shows to watch her daughter compete.

Mom also was a huge animal lover saving and adopting numerous kittens and adult cats over the years, some traveling and living with her in Texas and her cottage.

We want to especially thank the staff of River Ridge II Pod 2 North and the Palliative nurses for their exceptional care provided to Mom over the past year.  We cannot say enough about the care and compassion they provide.   We would also like to thank Comforts of Home for their special care during the past few weeks of Mom’s life.

As per Mom’s wishes, a cremation will take place with no funeral services. There will be a small family gathering to be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to D’Arcy’s Arc Animal Rescue, 730 Century St, Winnipeg, MB. https://www.darcysarc.ca Please visit www.cropo.com to leave your condolences and share your thoughts and stories.
