Obituary of NANCY JOAN DEVISSER

September 26, 1957 – May 27, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Nancy Joan DeVisser (nee Neil) at the age of 64 surrounded by her beloved family.  Nancy is survived by her loving husband Don of 42 years; her children Kyle (Kim) and Megan (Mike); her perfect grandchildren Bailey, Bethany, and Luke; her sister & best friend Susan (Bill), brothers John (Shirley) and Bill (Sharon – predeceased); as well as many nieces, nephews, and great friends.

Nancy was born to William and Josephine Neil in Winnipeg, MB.  After she graduated high school, she embarked on a 30-year career with the City of Winnipeg that led her to retire as Executive Assistant to the CFO.  Nancy then worked 9 years for the Province of Manitoba before officially retiring. Nancy always made family a priority.  Together with Don, they spent countless hours in cold hockey rinks and listening to piano practices and recitals.  Nancy and Don were always in attendance providing their children never ending support.  Nancy and Don worked very hard building a cabin in Lac du Bonnet that the entire family has enjoyed for many years.

Nancy also loved to travel with Don, their vacations consisted of Hawaii, Riviera Maya, Punta Cana, Huatulco, Aruba, Costa Rica, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Florida, Las Vegas & Palm Springs.
Mom will always be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her “never fail” recipes and famous feasts.  Nancy always put others ahead of herself.  She was generous and very much enjoyed having fun and laughing.

Nancy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in the fall of 2018.  It was a difficult fight but after 3.5 years, Nancy lost her battle.  Thanks to all who supported and cared for Nancy through her cancer journey with phone calls, emails, visits, dinners, friendship, and love.  Nancy will be forever remembered and missed by those who knew and loved her.  Special thanks to her great team of doctors, nurses, and support staff for the excellent care at HSC Cancer Care (GD6).

A memorial service will be celebrated on Monday June 6, 2022, at 11:00am at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg.
