Obituary of MYRTLE JOAN EICHEN

MYRTLE EICHEN

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, Myrtle Joan Eichen-Hanslip at the age of 66 years old. Mom was born in Ste. Rose, Manitoba. She peacefully passed away in her sleep at her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Myrtle was predeceased by her mother, Edith Flett; her father, Walter Flett; brothers James, Jimmy, Edward, Percy and Lawrencce “Teddy-Boy”; sisters Alice, Susan, Doreen; grandson Kayden; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

Mom is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Elvis Hanslip; children Joe, Sonja (Hilaire) John (Tanis), Christopher (Breann) and Jessica (Dylan); 14 beautiful grandchildren, Steven, Jesse, Adam, Alicia, Faith, Fatima, Joseph, Emily, Anna, Eli, Seyah, Aisley and Nyla; sisters Gertrude and Claudia (Eddie); sisters in law Mary, Val and Susan (Russel); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunties, uncles and godchildren.

During mom’s life, she spent her working years as a secretary with the Winnipeg School Division at Niji Mahkwa School. Mom loved her career, as one of her life passions was helping people and children. After retiring, Mom would still give back to everyone, no matter what the circumstances were. If you needed a place to sleep or something to eat, mom would welcome you into her home with open arms and without hesitation. This is why she was considered a mother and Koko to everyone.

Mom’s favourite things to do were watching her soap operas, doing puzzles, visiting with people she loved, keeping her home tidy and she loved listening to music. Whenever you would walk in her home, there was always a 2000-piece puzzle laid out on the table with country classics playing in the background. Before mom would go to sleep, she would always make sure she was caught up with her favourite soap operas.

See You Soon

See you soon my family,

my life is past.

I loved you all

to the very last.

Weep not for me,

but courage take.

Love each other,

for my sake.

For those you love

don’t go away,

they walk beside you

every day.

This is not goodbye, rather see you later. We love you mom and will forever miss you and cherish the memories that you have given to us.
