JOSÉ OCTAVIO do REGO

September 30, 1932 – June 23, 2022

 

José Octavio do Rego peacefully passed away with family by his side on June 23, 2022 at Calvary Place Personal Care Home, at the age of 89 years.

He was predeceased by both parents Manuel  Faria and Herminia Tavares Brum, along with his three brothers, Antonio Faria, Eduardo Faria and Artur Faria.

José  is lovingly remembered by his wife, Maria Rego, children, Fatima Faria along with son-in-law Sam Neis; grandchildren Alvaro, Renato and Eddie. He also leaves behind his sister, Fernanda Cabral as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

José  was born and raised in Sao Miguel, Azores and immigrated to Canada where he met his wife Maria and started his family 57 years ago. He worked at CN Transcona shops until he retired in the 1990’s.

He loved being at his cabin at Winnipeg Beach, spending time with his wife, grandchildren and dog, P2. Jose would spend hours listening to CJOB radio loved listening to comedy, especially ‘Tonecas’ on RTP.

The family especially thanks the Staff, on the third floor at Calvary Place for their extra loving care for Papa Joe.

A prayer vigil will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg., followed by a Funeral Mass on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at 10:30 am also at Our Lady of Perpertual Help, 4588 Roblin Blvd, Winnipeg. Interment will take place after the service at Assumption Cemetery & Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg.
