Obituary of TERRENCE SWEENEY

TERRENCE HERBERT MAURICE SWEENEY Surrounded by his family until the very end it is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Father, Grandfather, and Brother Terrence Herbert Maurice Sweeney on Saturday February 2, 2013. Terrence was predeceased by his mother Yvette Sweeney (nee Morrissette) in July 1994, father Herbert Sweeney in November 1995, younger brother Wayne Sweeney in April 2010, brother-in-laws Gerard Marcoux in May 2006, Jimmy Hoban in September 1997, and sister-in-law Rosemarie Spencer in January 2002, mother-in-law May Hoban in January 1990, and father-in-law Kenneth Hoban in November 1989. He is survived by his best friend and partner of 40 years Colleen , 4 children, Marcel, Thomas, Kenneth, and Michelle, 3 grandchildren Serena, Conner, and Brayden, 2 sisters Darlene Marcoux and Linda Rose, and his brother Ronald Sweeney, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Terry was born on July 21, 1940 at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg. Terry had quite the youth having done many crazy things many only wished they had done. Once he had gotten that out of his system he met the love of his life Colleen and her son Kenneth in November 1973. They were married on June 18, 1977 in Winnipeg. In June 1978 they welcomed the birth of their daughter Michelle. Soon after, Terry adopted Kenneth and their family was complete. They moved into Willow Park in July 1979 where Terry would reside until his passing. Terry had a heart of gold and although most would look at him and think he was intimidating and not someone to mess with we all knew him for the pussy cat he really was. He got to know many people over the years and was truly a person we all knew we could count on. Whether it was going to uncle Ronnie's scrap yard for parts for your car or a temporary roof over your head, or just one heck of a laugh, Terry was there to lend his hand. He was a character at best butchering the English language with his backwards French, falling into Christmas trees, whatever it was, he was a crazy, funny man that we're all going to miss so very much. Memorial Service will be held on Friday February 8, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers donations will be gratefully accepted at the Winnipeg Humane Society and Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 2 charities he strongly believed in. "We love you Dad, gone but never forgotten."
