Obituary of EUGIENIA LOS
EUGIENIA LOS
We are heartbroken to announce the peaceful passing of Eugienia Los, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, on Friday, September 9, 2022.
Mom was a force of nature - a woman of strength and resilience, who overcame many challenges throughout her lifetime. Mom was born in Poland in 1930. Living through the Second World War had a profound impact on her, and she often spoke about her experiences. She met her husband, Edward, soon after the war ended, and they operated a small farm, raising five children. In 1965, they left their home, and emigrated to Winnipeg, completing their family with one more child. Mom worked for 20 years as a dietician's aide at the Sharon Home. Both she and Dad also took on the task of babysitting many of their grandchildren full time.
Her greatest joy was her large family - 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren; she took pleasure in ensuring they were all well nourished, enjoying spending countless hours in the kitchen, with outstanding results. She was renowned for her delicious cooking and baking. Her generosity was legendary; she sent many, many packages to her relatives in Poland over the years, and, informed by her strong Catholic faith, gave much of what she had to anyone in need.
Besides her passion for cooking, Mom loved gardening, long walks in Kildonan Park, and attending services at Holy Ghost Church. Camping was also a huge part of her life. The family spent wonderful summers at Otter Falls, and, in later years, Dad and Mom settled at Pioneer Bay, where, after Dad passed away, Mom happily fed and entertained friends and family. Even though she was widowed at the age of 66. Mom kept up a very busy life, adding travelling to her numerous activities.
She is survived by her children Mary Bialowas (Jim), Josie Los (Roger), Christine Czarnecki (Mitch), Peter Los (Sandra), Richard Los (Lisa), and Alice Storey (Andrew); her grandchildren, Frank, Christopher, Diane, Tina, Michelle, Julia, Anthony, Miranda, Hannah, Austin, Evan, and Sarah; her great grandchildren; and her nephew, Tom Los. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward, whom she deeply missed, in 1996.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, September 17th at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main Street.
