Obituary of MARY SOLAR
It is with deep sadness that the family of Mary Solar announce her passing on November 21, 2022 at Holy Family Home.
Her memory will be cherished by her children; Donald (Sandra); Jane (Ross); Colleen and Glenn (Marijka); grandchildren; Meaghan (Brent); Jessica (Stuart); Adam; Matthew; Alana (Rob); Mirissa (Nico); Kirsten; Danylo and Maksym; great grandchildren; Gavin & Landen; William, Michael & Samuel; Mila & Alessio; sister Jean (Victor) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by loving husband Michael (2002); parents Sam & Helen Gashena; brother Paul and sister Nettie.
Mary was born in the Fork River area. Through her lifetime Mary was involved in many activities as an active member of the North Kildonan community center; running her own sewing business then the proud owner of Solar Food Mart where the local customers were like friends and family. Mary and Mike were one of the original homeowner builders on Sharon Bay N. She loved to entertain in her home with her delectable cooking serving a feast for all to enjoy!
Mary was an active member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral involved with UWAC and the sisterhood in supporting various services in the church community.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, November 24; 7 pm; Cropo Funeral Chapel at 1442 Main St.
Funeral Rite will be on Friday, November 25; 10 am at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral at 1175 Main St.
In following Mary’s wishes there will be no reception.
Private family interment will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers; donations can be made in Mary’s memory to the HTUOM Cathedral or a charity of your choice.
