I have fond memories of summer excursions to Assiniboine and Kildonan Parks with Aunty Irene and her niece Alecia from Saskatoon. Growing up within walking distance, meant spending a lot time visiting. She had a bubbly personality that was infectious to those around her.So sorry for your loss Bill, Pat, Hali and David

Father John & Dobrodika Mary Anne Nakonachny express their sincere condolences to the children and family of Irene of blessed memory. While a student at St. Andrew's College and the University of Manitoba in the late 60s, I joined the O. Koshetz Choir and had the pleasure of meeting Irene. She was always very friendly and had a beautiful voice. I am honored to have known Irene. Together with the choir, we travelled giving concerts in Gimli and Yorkton. Unfortunately, after I returned to the States, the choir travelled to Kyiv..
May Our Heavenly Father accept the soul of His newly departed servant, Irene, into His Heavenly Kingdom. Memory Eternal! Vichnaya Pamyat!

Al and I are so sorry for your loss of Auntie Irene. We were struck with how vibrant she was - nothing seemed to keep her down for very long. A few years ago, she and Al happened to be patients in Concordia Hospital at the same time, on the same ward. She was still the same Auntie Irene - upbeat, friendly, and cheerful. She was an inspiration to Al and me to look forward no matter what!
If science is correct, in that energy is never lost, Auntie Irene's energy will forever exist.

My deepest condolences to the family on the passing of your beloved Irene. All of my many memories of Irene are connected to our having sung together in the Ukrainian O. Koshetz Choir for some 3 decades...what wonderful times those were with illustrious conductor Walter Klymkiw at the helm. Irene was one of his favourite 'go-to' soloists from the alto section and I had the very distinct pleasure of performing a soprano-alto duet (one of a few such duets) with Irene one of which was part of a CBC radio program the recording of which I proudly possess! Irene's vocal talent was unmatched...I remember Walter saying privately that Irene's singing talent was the template by which he measured other singers' talents...quite an endorsement! Irene was one of those choir members who NEVER missed rehearsals...that spoke of her integrity, dependability, and competence as a choir/choir executive member! Her sense of humour and laughter is also memorable and I can hear her even now. Her presence and contributions all around to the Koshetz Choir are beyond measure! Walter will be so thrilled for her to now be enhancing the choral sound of the departed Koshetz singers along with the saints and angels.
Singing colleague and friend,
Helen Feniuk
