Obituary of BALAZS (BILL) MIKLOS KOROZSI

BALAZS (BILL) MIKLOS KOROZSI

DECEMBER 6, 1930 – DECEMBER 19, 2022

With sadness, we share that Balazs (Bill) Miklos Korozsipassed away December 19, 2022 in Winnipeg.

Balazs was born in Újfehértó to Ilona and Balazs on December 6, 1930. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose.  He will be missed by his son Bill (Denise), his daughter Carolyn, and his Pomeranian buddy, Charlie. His loving grandchildren, Henri (Ashley), Eric, and Stephanie will miss and honour their grandpa. Also left to mourn his passing are his special friend of over 60 years who was more like a brother, Frank Posch; his sister Julia; his sister-in-law Bernice (Vince); numerous family members in Hungary; and the friends he made along the way here in Canada.

He left Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution.  Dad was a hard worker and barely sat still.  He started working in bush camps in Ontario.  Next, he went to Medicine Hat to help build the railway, which led him across Canada with his work. He then had various roles at Motorcoach, Co-op Implements, and Canadian National Railway where he retired.

Along with his dedicated work ethic, he also enjoyed many activities that fed his soul.  He was usually found in his garage fixing something.  He loved gardening, especially starting to plant seeds in February.  He was always excited to grow his favourite Hungarian peppers. He also loved to travel.  He was able to visit his cherished family back home and took numerous road trips west.

Dad loved people and was a great storyteller!  He made many special connections through the years with his big smile, sparkly eyes, and kind heart.  He preferred to be with others, sharing his stories.  He will be remembered for that by all.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Special Needs Care Unit at Deer Lodge Centre, as well as Dr. Hasden.  The love, companionship, and care that you provided made you family and Dad loved you all.  Thank you for spending time talking and laughing with him; he loved being with his people.  Knowing how you touched our father’s heart means the world to us.

The Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Deb Martens, MA Spiritual Health Practitioner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Balazs may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Nyugodjon Békében Dad

Rest in Peace Dad ❤
