I have known Richard since 1967 when we were in the same grade 5 class of that scary old school William Whyte. I have fond memories of going to Richard's place on Dufferin after school to watch Batman, 7 of us altogether watching & waiting to go Wham! Bam! Sadly we were separated by all of us being sent to different schools for grade 6. We still hung out together on weekends though.
Richard and my brother have been roofing together for the past 10 years so we kept in touch.
Condolences to Richard's 6 sons, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
I will remember your smiling face always joking around!

My deepest sympathies, especially to April and Randy. Richard and I go back 60 years - when we were in Dufferin Elementary. We played under the Salter Street bridge and bought candy at the Henry Street corner store. And we later joined up again at William Whyte and caused some problems for the teachers. Richard - you live on in my memories and I will always carry you around in my heart Richard. I know you are gone from this plane but I know you will still be watching out for the ones you cared for and loved. Until we can meet again. Your Friend, Robert Ballantyne
