Dennis Anthony Koster
1948-2023

Dennis Koster, beloved husband of Orysia Koster, passed away suddenly on February 12, 2023, with his wife and friends by his side. He is survived by his wife Orysia, cousins Bill, Tom, and Andrew Koster and their families. Also, he is predeceased by his parents Michael and Jean Koster, and brother Raymond Koster.

Dennis was born July 29, 1948 in Winnipeg to parents Jean and Michael Koster. He was raised in the North End of Winnipeg, on Manitoba Avenue.

Dennis attended King Edward Elementary School, Isaac Newton Junior High, and Tech Voc Highschool.

Through his teenage years, he played football for the Tech Voc Hornets and played basketball.

Dennis’ first job was with Revenue Canada, now known as CRA. He started in the mailroom and rose to the position of Enforcement Officer.

His final place of employment was with the City of Winnipeg Golf Course Services, where he worked for 22 years.

In his youth, he was an avid outdoorsman. He frequently went fishing during fishing season, and hunted for prairie chickens.

He was a real sportsman. He followed both CFL and NFL. A true Blue Bomber fan, as he said from the age of twelve. He could give you facts and figures from each Bomber season.

During his adult years, the game of golf was what Dennis enjoyed. He worked for the city of Winnipeg Golf Course Services and played golf regularly.

He was a true numbers nut. He always played the lotteries, Pick 3, 649, etc. Everyone he met he would ask: “When is your birthday? Day and month.” And, he would say, “I’ll buy a Pick 3 ticket for you.”

Dennis, you have lived a full and interesting life. We will miss your wit and sense of humour. May God be with you. Rest In Peace.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Rauliuk presiding. Interment to follow at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street.
